By creating an account or using TonalAI ("the Service"), operated by TonalAI LLC, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service.
TonalAI is an AI-powered workout programming tool designed for use with Tonal home fitness equipment. The Service generates personalized workout plans based on your self-reported profile, preferences, and fitness goals. TonalAI can optionally send generated workouts directly to your Tonal device and sync your workout history for adaptive programming.
TonalAI provides AI-generated workout suggestions for informational purposes only. The Service does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Nothing provided by TonalAI constitutes medical advice, and no doctor-patient or therapist-patient relationship is created by using this Service.
You should consult a physician or qualified healthcare provider before beginning any exercise program, especially if you have pre-existing conditions, movement limitations, or physical restrictions. If you experience pain, dizziness, or discomfort during any exercise, stop immediately and seek medical attention.
TonalAI allows you to define movement restrictions (exercise patterns to exclude) and volume preferences (intensity adjustments for specific body areas). These are user-defined preferences, not medical assessments. TonalAI does not diagnose, assess, or make clinical judgments about any physical condition.
You are solely responsible for determining which movements are appropriate for you, ideally in consultation with a qualified healthcare provider. While TonalAI enforces your stated restrictions as hard rules during workout generation, the Service makes no guarantee that the resulting workouts are medically appropriate for your individual circumstances.
You acknowledge that physical exercise involves inherent risks including but not limited to muscle strains, joint injuries, cardiovascular events, and other physical harm. You assume all risk of injury from performing any exercises suggested by the platform.
TonalAI LLC is not liable for any injuries, damages, or health issues resulting from use of the Service. You agree to exercise within your own limits and take full responsibility for your safety. You are responsible for evaluating whether any suggested exercise is appropriate for your fitness level and physical condition.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
All workout programming is based on information you provide. TonalAI collects the following self-reported data:
TonalAI cannot verify the accuracy of this information. Inaccurate or incomplete information may result in inappropriate exercise recommendations.
Workouts generated by TonalAI are produced by a large language model (AI) and are probabilistic in nature. While the Service employs multiple validation layers — including exercise catalog filtering, movement restriction enforcement, and structured output validation — AI-generated content may occasionally contain errors, suboptimal programming, or unexpected outputs.
You should review all generated workouts before performing them and use your own judgment regarding exercise selection, weight, and intensity.
By connecting your Tonal account, you grant TonalAI permission to access your Tonal account for the sole purpose of delivering the Service — sending workouts to your Tonal device and syncing workout data.
Your Tonal password is never stored. TonalAI uses your credentials only during the initial authentication flow to obtain a session token. Your refresh token is encrypted at rest using industry-standard encryption. You may disconnect your Tonal account at any time from your profile settings.
TonalAI is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to Tonal, Inc. "Tonal" is a registered trademark of Tonal, Inc. TonalAI is an independent third-party tool that integrates with the Tonal platform.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account. TonalAI LLC is not liable for any loss arising from unauthorized access to your account.

The Service, including its design, code, AI prompt architecture, and branding, is owned by TonalAI LLC. All rights not expressly granted herein are reserved. You retain ownership of your personal data and self-reported profile information.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part thereof) at any time, with or without notice. We may also terminate or suspend your account at any time for violation of these terms or for any other reason at our discretion. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuance of the Service.
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. We will indicate the date of the most recent revision at the bottom of this page.
These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
